Cost of Comfort: Colorado Living Expenses Climb Again in 2025 (Live in Colorado)

Living comfortably in Colorado now requires a six-figure salary for a single adult and well over a quarter of a million dollars for a family of four, according to new 2025 income estimates. The data shows that a single adult needs about $105,955.20 annually to live comfortably in Colorado in 2025. For a family of four, the required income jumps to $273,728.00, placing the state 9th in the nation for the income needed for a family to maintain a comfortable standard of living. The figures represent an increase from 2024, when a single adult needed $103,293 and a four-person household required $264,992 to live comfortably in the state. Over the past year, the income required for a single adult rose 2.58%, while the income needed for a family increased 3.30%.The steady rise reflects the continued pressure of housing costs, everyday expenses, and inflation in many parts of Colorado. While the state remains attractive for its strong job market, outdoor lifestyle, and growing cities, the increasing cost of living is making financial comfort harder to achieve. For families especially, the nearly $9,000 jump in required annual income from 2024 to 2025 highlights how quickly expenses are rising. Even single adults saw their required income increase by more than $2,600 in just one year. Despite the higher costs, Colorado continues to draw new residents each year, particularly to metro areas such as Denver, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins. However, experts say prospective movers should carefully evaluate salary expectations and housing costs before relocating. As the state ranks among the top ten in the country for the income needed to support a family comfortably, the latest numbers underscore a growing reality: enjoying the Colorado lifestyle increasingly comes with a higher price tag.
