The figures represent an increase from 2024, when a single adult needed $103,293 and a four-person household required $264,992 to live comfortably in the state. Over the past year, the income required for a single adult rose 2.58%, while the income needed for a family increased 3.30%.The steady rise reflects the continued pressure of housing costs, everyday expenses, and inflation in many parts of Colorado. While the state remains attractive for its strong job market, outdoor lifestyle, and growing cities, the increasing cost of living is making financial comfort harder to achieve. For families especially, the nearly $9,000 jump in required annual income from 2024 to 2025 highlights how quickly expenses are rising. Even single adults saw their required income increase by more than $2,600 in just one year. Despite the higher costs, Colorado continues to draw new residents each year, particularly to metro areas such as Denver, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins.
